Crispy Bacon
HEALTHIER CRISPIER BACON. IT DOESN'T GET ANY BETTER THAN THISMmmm Bacon. Got a craving for bacon and eggs, but sick of cooking the eggs in a pool of bacon fat, or for that matter, having fat drip from the bacon. By cooking it in the air fryer the fat will drip away, and leave you with a nice crispy bacon that will provide a healthier alternative. Why not cook your favourite bacon wrapped food in the air fryer as well, for a tastier and healthier meal.
Servings1 Person
TEMP200 ° C OR 390 ° F
Per Serving
Equipment
Ingredients
- 4 Rashers Bacon
Instructions
Preparation
- Preheat the air fryer to 200 ° C or 390 ° F which usually takes around 3 minutes.
Cooking
- Place the bacon into the basket. If possible, keep the rashers separated. If this is impossible, then shake the basket more often.
Notes
Shaking the basket often will not only help remove the excess fat, but will also allow the bacon to cook evenly if any were overlapping. Pat dry the bacon after cooking with paper towel to remove the last bit of dripping fat.
TIP: Add some aluminim foil to the bottom of the bucket (not basket) to make cleaning easier.
- Cook from defrosted
- No oil necessary
- Shake often
- 1 bacon Rasher refers to 1 slice of bacon
I’ve never heard the term rashers…..is that the same term as bacon??
Hi Emily
A bacon rasher is equivalent to a strip of bacon. It’s just another way of saying it.
Thank you… You gave temperature needed… Most I saw only said preheat to 200… I would be cooking forever…
Thank you! every recipe including ok google said cook at 200 degrees. Not one mentioned C or F ! Boy, it just wasn’t cooking. I just got my air fryer so I was getting disappointed. I found your recipe and it was great and bacon was crispy and tasty!
Hi Cris,
I’m glad you’re finding the site useful ;)
I have been looking and reading lots of posts on cooking bacon in the Airfryer. My question is, do you have to cover it (for fear of them flying around in the basket, as one post said happened to her), and does it splatter on the coils (like another post had said)
Hi Tammi,
When I make bacon in the Air Fryer, i’ve never had to cover it. The basket is generally pretty low in the machine so it’s never been an issue with the food flying around. Having said that, I use a Philips air fryer and that could just be the way the air flow is. You may have different results. I think bacon is heavy enough not to be a big issue. Other foods may be a problem if they are exceptionally light. As for cleaning the coils. To be honest, I’ve never cleaned my coils. I was going to attempt it once, but when I had a look at them they were pretty clean so I haven’t bothered since.
Hi Gleff My POP always said a rasher of bacon is a measure meaning 3 full strips of bacon. I remember him ordering a rasher of bacon in a restaurant and the waitress the waitress always understood what he ordered.
My Gramps was a butcher and Pop learned the trade from him.
This is just one of those old meanings lost in the fog of time.
Hint use parchment paper cut to fit the basket Under the air fryer, saves a lot of mess.
Thanks for the tips
Cyn
PS micro the bacon for a minute or 2 on paper plate, cover with paper towel or plate to soak out some of the water and fat then brown & crisp up in the air fryer.
Yummy
Easy peasy
Cyn
Awesome. Thanks for the info and tips Cynthia
Just purchased a Phillips Air Fryer. Bacon was the first thing I tried. It smoked up the house. Is it supposed to do that? Videos I’ve watched doesn’t look like anyone’s fryer is smoking. I had to open windows and finish cooking my batch of bacon in the oven.
Hi Mary, normally it shouldn’t smoke up the house but it could be because you had really fatty bacon and cooking it too hot. The fat is probably splattering on the top element. Try wiping the element clean and then cook it for a bit longer at a lower temperature.
Gonna try it this morning!! Wish me luck!! So far I love love love this machine !!
can I layfoil on the rack and then place a bacon on the tinfoil and air fry them
Hi. I wouldn’t recommend putting the tin foil on top of the rack or basket. Air fryers work by the free flow of air movement. Putting tin foil will tend to block the air flow somewhat. You can put the tin foil underneath the rack or basket as long as the air flow isn’t impeded.
when cooking bacon in Philips XXL airfryer, should we use grill plate as bottom of basket and the mesh screen over it to keep bacon flat and reduce splatter? Lots of white smoke last tme. and afraid to try again as this was ,our first try. . Will addIng water to pan before cooking help? if so, how much will help?
When I’m cooking stuff in the air fryer that is light and flies around I just lay a fork on top of it and that holds it down
