Baked Potato
Baked Potato with Sour Cream and Chives taste magnificentBaked potatoes are a favourite of mine. Add a dollop of sour cream or butter and a few chives, and you have a yummy accompaniment to your main dish. Great with a steak, and some vegetables. Baked potatoes cooked in an air fryer will have a crisp skin and a nice fluffy potato interior.

This did not work for me. My potatoes were only just starting to cook but we’re not even squeezable yet. I punctured mine with a knife as I do with the oven – did you?
Hi Lacey, that’s strange. Do you have a philips air fryer or a different brand? Did you preheat first? Also, did you use small to medium potatoes?.
I used medium potatoes, preheated the air fryer to 200 degrees Celsius and cooked for 25 minutes. From memory I didn’t prick the potatoes either.
Are you sure that you did not by accident cook them at 200 degrees Fahrenheit?
Hi Dana, My airfryer is only in Celcius so no, but when I go shopping next I’ll get some more potatoes and give it another attempt and will update here.
Gleff…I think Dana was addressing Lacey. Maybe Lacey’s potatoes were way undercooked because she misread your directions and used 200 Fahrenheit rather than 200 Celsius, which is 390 Fahrenheit.
I made home croquettes, put the in freezer. When I cooked them in af they split open. 18 min at 180c.
I cannot find a grill to put in the basket for meat is it okay to just lay them int he basket. I have searced every where for one that is for a power air fryer 3.4.
Hi Valerie,
I don’t see why not. I’m not an expert about cross contamination but I would assume the heat would take care of that. I’ve cooked meats in my basket without any grill and they’ve been fine.
Quartering potatoes will greatly decrease cook time in the air fryer if in a hurry…12 minutes or less.
I have cooked them in the microwave for a few minutes and then transferred to the air fryer.
Alaska_Dave here -Just cooked frozen crinkle cut fries turned out great using PHILIPS I would say just watch your cooking times as this cooked very fast
Overall I am stoked about using it for all kinds of foods – thnx
I found that pre cuting potatoes, and then rinsing well ,2minutes in Micro wave, then into preheated air fryer for about 17 minutes at 400 ` works best, smaller sizes cook faster
Why would anyone do it in the AF when it is faster in the MW 3.30 ???????????????????
Because you don’t get a crispy skin
Would sweet potatoes be similar to regular potatoes? I only have large ones too.
Hi Ed,
I’ve never had sweet potatoes but i’d imagine it would be similar. Bear in mind though that if you have larger potatoes, you’ll need to add time to the cooking, and possibly turn the heat down a little as well, otherwise you’ll risk burning the outside, or not cooking the insides.
Good luck. Let us know how it goes.
I don’t have a Phillips power xl so their not the same cooling time’s, well that sucks just got this one and just needed simple recipes for now.
I found that 25 minutes was nowhere near enough time to cook my potato. I have to admit it was fairly large but it was barely even warm in the centre and definitely not properly cooked at all. I think the suggestion to cook them in a microwave first for several minutes is good because that ensures the middle of the potato gets thoroughly cooked. Then transfer it to the Philips air-fryer and cook again to get the skin nice and crispy.
My medium sized potato took about 45 minutes and still wasn’t cooked right in the middle. I had to cut it in half and give it another 6 minutes.
