Do you soak them in cold water before putting them into the pre heated air fryer?
Hi Geoff,
Fresh cut fries was submitted by another user but I’ll see if I can answer. I think it’s fine to soak them in cold water but I don’t think it’s necessary because of the way they cook. Perhaps you can try both and let me know the outcome so I can update the database?
Just a note though, if you do soak them in cold water, make sure they are pat dry prior to cooking in the Air Fryer. I’m not sure of the reason, but all recipes i’ve seen for potatoes seem to indicate you should pat them dry first. I can understand the reasoning for hot oil as oil and water don’t mix but not entirely sure why it’s necessary in an Air Fryer.
If they’re wet and not patted dry, they will create steam and not fry to a golden crispy outer layer. They will be soggy. Happy air frying!
‘Thank you for your concise answer to the ‘how long to cook fries’ and for not talking about your aunt, car or personal preferences regarding baseball teams and all the other non=sense people put on their ‘cooking anything’ pages. Do they get paid for how many words they use? YOURS IS STRAIGHT UP THE BEST INFORMATIONAL VIDIEO OUT THERE, RE FRIES. i do appreciarte it.
